Emmanuel Adebayor returned from injury to score both goals in Arsenal's 2-0 win over Manchester City in the Premier League.
The Arsenal team-sheet looked daunting with the return of key trio Cesc Fabregas, Adebayor and Theo Walcott and it took only ten minutes for two of those players to team-up for the opening goal.
Fabregas curled in a free-kick from the right and the City defenders were marking shadows as Adebayor was left alone to guide his header past Shay Given.
City suffered an early blow as Wayne Bridge was forced to go off injured and was replaced by Gelson Fernandes.
Things could have got worse for Mark Hughes' men had it not been for the brilliance of Given. Kolo Toure went on one of his lung-busting runs and cut inside Pablo Zabaleta, but luckily for City Given make a fine save from a close range shot from the Arsenal defender.
It took City almost half-an-hour to get a meaningful effort on the Arsenal goal. Shaun Wright-Phillips did well to turn Gael Clichy and lay the ball onto Micah Richards, but he saw his effort easily saved by Manuel Almunia.
Substitute Fernandes came agonisingly close to equalising as he saw his thumping 12-yard strike come back off the post.
Fabregas has been linked with a £45 million move to Barcelona, but he showed he could be worth a lot more than that with the pass which saw Adebayor score his second goal.
The Spanish maestro lifted a delightful 30-yard ball over the City defence and Adebayor raced clear before rounding Given and slotting home to secure the points for the Gunners.
