Veteran Graeme Hick became just the 16th player to reach 40,000 first-class runs in Worcestershire's clash with Warwickshire at Edgbaston today.
The former England batsman made 49 in the Warriors' first innings as they were bowled out for 399 on day three.
Hick reached the milestone after coming within one run of a half-century but was then caught behind off South Africa paceman Dale Steyn.
The 41-year-old said he was more focussed on helping rock-bottom Worcestershire win the game.
"You can look back at things like that and feel proud about realising the achievement - but it is not something you set out to do," Hick said.
"It is a good achievement but hopefully now I've passed it I can carry on.
"It is nice to reach it but there are other important things, us winning, us playing well, which are more important and mean more to me than just getting past a certain total of runs.
"I am not really that fussed about it. I know later on it will be nice to look back and see what you have done, I suppose."
Stephen Moore hit 112 while Gareth Batty made 25 to give Worcestershire a lead of 52 after Warwickshire were bowled out for 343 yesterday.
With more than 100 overs lost because of torrential rain, the draw remains the most likely result.
