Serbia's Ana Ivanovic will face Dinara Safina in the final of the French Open after recording a three-set victory over compatriot Jelena Jankovic.
Ivanovic, who will assume top spot in the world rankings for the first time in her career as a result of today's win, battled to a 6-4 6-3 6-4 success despite having to overcome some nerves on the home straight.
Third seed Jankovic, whose record against her countrywoman shows just one win in eight meetings now, started well with a break of serve in the first game.
But the second seed roared back and took the set with two breaks of her own.
Jankovic levelled things up with a much-improved performance in the second set to force a decider and looked on course for victory when she went a break up in the fifth game of the third set.
However, Ivanovic again found form when she needed to and used her excellent range of groundstrokes to pick apart a nervous-looking Jankovic and seal her place in the showpiece on Saturday.
