Everton manager David Moyes admits he is unlikely to make on-loan striker Jo's move to Goodison Park a permanent one.

Moyes says the Toffees simply do not have the transfer funds in place to be able to sign the Brazilian striker from Manchester City.

Jo scored just three goals in 18 appearances for City since his £18 million move from CSKA Moscow last summer, prompting Mark Hughes' side to release him on loan in January.

But the 22-year-old has scored five goals in seven matches for Moyes' side and has put them in with a slim chance of overtaking Arsenal for fourth place in the league.

"His goals are invaluable; I think he's scored five goals in seven games, so it's a really good record," said Moyes.

"Let's hope he keeps it up. If he does it will be a really good loan signing, which isn't easy to get in the January window."

However, Moyes knows City are likely to want to recoup most of the £18 million Jo cost them just eight months ago, meaning the Toffees have already been priced out of a permanent move.

"It's not worth discussing because it was a lot of money and we certainly wouldn't have that sort of money," said Moyes.

If the money was available the Scot suggested he would be interested in keeping the Brazilian as he feels he will only go on to get better as he gains more Premier League experience.

He added: "It is hard for foreign players. Maybe given time he will go on to show what he can do when he was at CSKA."

Jo will still have three years left on the four-year contract he signed with City when he returns to Eastlands in the summer.
