Brazilian striker Jo will go back to Manchester City in the summer when his loan deal at Everton comes to an end.
Jo signed for City last summer for £18 million from CSKA Moscow, but failed to make an impact at Eastlands and was shipped-out to Everton in January. The 22-year-old has been in excellent form at Goodison Park and has scored five goals in 13 league games.
Everton manager David Moyes was keen to sign Jo on a permanent contract, but revealed the striker would cost too much.
"I don't see where we could even come close to getting the money they spent on him," said Moyes on the club's official website. "But a loan has not been put to us or spoken about at all yet.
"It's something that, at the moment, we've not had any indication that they would have interest in. Obviously that means he will go back to Manchester City."
Jo was a highly-rated forward before he joined City and showed his potential with three goals for Brazil at the 2008 Olympic Games. But his spell at City was a huge disappointment as he only found the back of the net once.
City are expected to spend big this summer and bring in a number of big-name stars to the club, which might leave Jo surplus to requirement.
