Roger Federer and Andy Roddick both booked their place in the fourth round at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami.
The second-seeded Federer cruised past German Nicolas Kiefer 6-4, 6-1, while fifth-seeded Roddick had a tougher time getting past Russia's Dmitry Tursunov 7-6 (11/9), 6-2.
Federer, a two-time champion at Key Biscayne, needed just 70 minutes to dispose of veteran Kiefer. The 13-time grand slam winner faces Taylor Dent in the next round after the American qualifier stunned Spaniard Tommy Robredo with a 7-5 6-3 victory.
In contrast, Roddick survived a battle with the big-hitting Tursunov. The home favourite saved two set points during the first-set tiebreak, before winning the final three points to clinch the set which lasted 75 minutes.
The second set was more comfortable for the 2004 champion, as he looks to continue his record of reaching at the least the semi-finals in each event he has played this year.
Roddick, who won in Memphis last month, is off to the best start of his career at 25-4 and leads the ATP Tour in victories.
The fourth-round opponent for Roddick will be the winner of the clash between ninth-seeded Frenchman Gael Monfils and Russia's Marat Safin.
