Craig Bellamy says Wales have no chance of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup following their 2-0 defeat at home to Finland yesterday.
Bellamy was frustrated by the lack of chances Wales created and felt Finland had not offered much to suggest that they could qualify either.
The Manchester City forward thought Wales were a better side than Finland and could not work out how they had lost.
Speaking after the match he said: "You've probably seen two poor sides trying to contest this group and none have a glimmer of hope of qualifying.
"That is fact on what I have just seen today against Finland."
Finland scored at the end of both halves on the counter attack and Bellamy was disappointed with the way Wales conceded.
"They sucker-punched us really," said the captain. "We were just poor to be honest."
Wales are now in fourth place in Group Four, behind Finland on four points, while Germany lead the table on 13 points.
Russia also won yesterday, leaving Wales well behind in the chase for a playoff spot.
John Toshack's men face Germany on Wednesday but Bellamy admits the rest of the qualifying campaign has become slightly redundant for the team.
He added: "Where do we go from here? God knows. I do feel we are a better side although we've just lost."
Wales' only two victories of the qualifying campaign so far have come against Azerbaijan and Liechtenstein.
