Wimbledon's All England Club to host Davis Cup tie against Austria
The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) has announced the Davis Cup World Group playoff between Great Britain and Austria will be played at Wimbledon's All England Club.

The fixture, which will be hosted by the Number One court, is scheduled for the weekend of September 19th to 21st, with the winners guaranteed a place in the top tier of the competition next season.

The last time Great Britain played a Davis Cup match at Wimbledon was in September 2007 when the team, led by Andy Murray and Tim Henman, secured their place at the top table of the world team tournament with a 4-1 win over Croatia.

Great Britain captain John Lloyd said: "I am delighted that this crucial tie is going to be played at Wimbledon which is a fantastic venue and I firmly believe that playing on grass will give us the best opportunity to win the tie.

"It's a tough draw but one that we are fully capable of winning.

"I am sure tennis fans will get behind the team and come along to support the players in our bid to return to the World Group in 2009."

Great Britain were forced into the playoffs after the team, minus top star Murray, lost 4-1 to Argentina in February.

Austria also lost in the first round of the World Group, beaten 4-1 by the USA.

This September's fixture will be only the sixth time in the last 30 years that the All England Club has been used for a Davis Cup tie.End of story
