Portuguese winger Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that he is now ready to leave Manchester United.
The entertaining playmaker has had his undeniable talents as a footballer overshadowed by the less desirable aspects of his game during the World Cup, typified by his apparent insistence that club team-mate Wayne Rooney should be sent off after a clash with Chelsea's Ricardo Carvalho.
During last night's playoff with Germany, Ronaldo was booed incessantly when he received the ball and he has also been on the receiving end of some harsh mockery from the British tabloids.
It was initially rumoured that Rooney was intent on gaining revenge on Ronaldo for his antics, but this has since been refuted by the former-Everton star who claims merely to be "disappointed".
But Ronaldo reportedly feels that the time has come to escape English football, with a move to Real Madrid now very much on the cards.
"I think I should get out of Manchester as the circumstances are not right to keep playing there," he said.
"Nobody stood up for me, although I did not do anybody any harm. In two or three days I'll decide where to go," he added.
Alex Ferguson, one would imagine, will be less than impressed with this comment after he stressed last week "there isn't a problem with the boy".
New Real boss Fabio Capello is looking to rebuild the side this year and has already stated that he is a keen admirer of Ronaldo's talents.
