Parents of abducted British four-year-old Madeleine McCann will stay in Portugal to continue the search for their missing daughter.
Their announcement comes a month after the abduction of the little girl, the parents declaring that they will continue their search with the belief that their daughter is still alive.
Parents Gerry and Kate McCann are continuing an international media campaign for the safe return of their daughter and are planning to enlist a number of celebrities and sports stars to help keep Madeleine in the public eye.
They are currently in the midst of a tour throughout Europe to publicise their appeal, with planned stops in Germany, the Netherlands and Morocco in North Africa.
The parents have also been in discussions with Harry Potter author JK Rowling, who is said to be considering distributing bookmarks of the missing four-year-old with the final instalment of the book series, due to be released on July 21st.
JK Rowling was one of a number of celebrities who had previously supported the Madeleine appeal.
"There has been some indirect contact with her," said Mr McCann. "We are thinking about getting bookmarks with Madeleine’s photographs and getting the author’s agreement.
"Someone like JK Rowling has got massive appeal but we would have to speak to her directly. A Harry Potter book would be ideal."
They are also considering meeting with a number of famous sports stars amidst plans to hold an official Madeleine Day to keep their daughter’s appeal alive.
Speaking of their plans to stay in the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz, the McCanns told the media that they would have to feel that the investigation in Portugal is exhausted before they would consider returning home to Rothley, Leicestershire.
"We would like to be here, obviously this is where she was abducted from, the investigation is centred around here and we certainly want to be close to that," said Mr McCann.
