Roy Keane has revealed he wants to return to management this summer.
The fiery Irishman has been out of the game since resigning as Sunderland boss in December with the Black Cats languishing in the drop zone.
Keane, who spent 28 months in charge at Sunderland, has used his time away from football to study the training methods of some of the world's teams.
Last year, he checked out the methods of the New Zealand rugby union side. And last week, the ex-Manchester United skipper flew to Portugal to make notes on the style of Benfica boss Quique Sanchez Flores.
The 37-year-old admits he is keen to return to the dugout as soon as possible.
"I wanted to know the methods of Benfica's work from the juniors to the first team. Benfica have some of the best faculties on the continent," Keane said.
"My future? I'm hopeful because I want to get back into management in the summer.
"I don't know where that will be, but I'm keeping all my options open and wouldn't dismiss the possibility of working abroad."
Keane's spell in charge at the Stadium of Light was his first as a manager. He took over with the club in the relegation zone in the Championship before masterminding their promotion to the top flight.
But despite some expensive signings the Black Cats were always fighting for Premier League survival. Keane claims he walked out because of constant rows with majority shareholder Ellis Short and chairman Niall Quinn.
