New Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce has told striker Roque Santa Cruz of his disappointment at the timing of an interview the Paraguayan gave where he expressed an interest in a move to Manchester City.
But Allardyce also stressed that he doesn't want the 27-year-old to leave Ewood Park in the upcoming January transfer window.
"We've had the discussion. I just said that the timing of the interview was very poor," the former Bolton and Newcastle boss explained.
"I basically think he shouldn't have done the interview; it certainly wasn't set up by this football club which was disappointing.
"But we've resolved that and I've basically told him I don't want him to leave and that is the end of it."
Allardyce replaced Paul Ince as manager last week after the former Macclesfield and MK Dons boss was sacked following a run of 11 games without a win.
