A drone aircraft has crashed in northwest
Pakistan, local military officials have claimed.
The Pakistani army said the unmanned aircraft came down in the South Waziristan but did not identify where it had come from.
"A surveillance unmanned aerial vehicle while flying over Pakistan-Afghan border yesterday night crash landed, on this side of the border... apparently due to malfunctioning," the Pakistani army said in a statement on Wednesday.
"The wreckage... has been recovered."
The US military claims it has no information that any of its drones crashed or were shot down in Pakistan on Tuesday.
"We have no reports of any loss of DoD (Department of Defence) drones," said Lieutenant Colonel Mark Wright.
Tensions are currently strained between Washington and Islamabad after an increasing number of US military strikes inside the Pakistan border.
