The leaders of Pakistan's ruling coalition are meeting in Dubai today in an attempt to resolve the deadlock over the reinstatement of judges.
Former prime minister and leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz party, Nawaz Sharif, is meeting with the Pakistan People's party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, the AFP news agency reports.
"I am going to Dubai to talk to Mr Zardari on the issue of reinstatement of the judges in accordance with the agreement reached between us in [the town of] Muree," Mr Sharif told reporters at Lahore airport earlier.
Party secretary Imran Khwaja told AFP that Mr Sharif would be engaging in a "last-ditch effort" to reinstate the judges.
After winning the country's elections, both parties declared they would reinstate the judges by the end of April.
Discussions between the two ruling parties have stalled recently over key details.
Mr Sharif has called for the unconditional restoration of the judges, while Mr Zardari wants to link the reinstatement with a series of constitutional reforms.
In November last year president, Pervez Musharraf declared a state of emergency and sacked around 60 of the country's judges.
The supreme court had been preparing to rule on whether Mr Musharraf's re-election in October was legal.
