At least 30 Taliban have been killed in operations against the Taliban in different parts of the country, according to military and local goverment officials.
The air strikes in the country's tribal regions bordering Afghanistan follow operations yesterday in which army sources claimed to have killed 60 militants.
Today's operations also involved the use of jets to bomb positions held by insurgents and targeted suspected hideouts in the area.
Army spokesman major general Athar Abbas told the Associated Press that 20 Taliban had been killed in the strike.
In other operations, the news provider reports that ten insurgents were killed in air strikes and gunbattles in the tribal region of Bajaur.
There has been no independent confirmation of the casualties and there has been no mention of losses on the Pakistani side.
The operation comes as the US' assistant secretary of state Richard Boucher visits the country to meet with senior security officials.
