Australian speedster Shaun Tait has dismissed claims that people might question the legality of his action.

The 24-year-old returned from a five-month injury lay-off to take two wickets against New Zealand in the Twenty20 match on Tuesday. But Kiwi captain Daniel Vettori said afterwards "people are going to speculate on it," when asked about Tait's action.

But the Australian hit back, saying: "They can question me and I can go and do the tests but I can't see a problem with my action at all. Maybe [New Zealand's batsmen] should watch the ball more."

Tait has an unusual slingy action which helps him to continuously break the 90mph barrier. But the match referee for the Twenty20 game, Roshan Mahanama, said he had not noticed anything wrong with Tait's action.

"It has not come up for discussion at all so there is no comment on that," said Mahanama. "I don't know how we'll see it tomorrow and in the other two games but it is nothing that we have discussed.

"We'll go in with an open mind tomorrow. There is a process in place and if there is a problem they will follow that process."

Vettori's comments will no likely fire-up Tait and the rest of the Australian team for the ongoing three-match Chappell-Hadlee series, which the Aussies lead 1-0.
