The race to sign Manchester United's want-away striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has intensified with Bayern Munich and Real Madrid both expressing an interest in the player.
The Dutch international fell out with United manager Sir Alex Ferguson at the back end of last season and has said that he wants to leave Old Trafford this summer.
Rumours have circulated regarding his future in recent weeks but both German champions Bayern and Spanish giants Real have said the player wants to join them.
"It seems as though Fabio (Capello, new coach of Real Madrid) likes van Nistelrooy and he could complement (Cristiano) Ronaldo in playing together," Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon said.
"There is enough (money) for us to make six or seven reinforcements and they will be here before August 3rd."
Portuguese winger Ronaldo has also said that he wants to leave United, with Real his preferred choice.
However, Calderon's claim over van Nistelrooy have been challenged by the chairman of Bayern Munich, Karl Heinz Rummenigge, who claimed that the 29-year-old has said he wants to move to Germany instead.
"The player wants to come to Munich," Rummenigge told German paper Bild am Sonntag.
The striker has just spent time in Germany with Holland's World Cup squad, where he spent much of his time on the bench.
