FIA president Max Mosley has called an extraordinary general assembly in June to resolve his future with motor sport's governing body.

His position has been questioned after reports in the News of the World claimed Mosley was involved in an orgy which had "Nazi connotations".

Mosley has not denied his participation in the orgy with up to five girls but has denied the accusations that there were any Nazi connotations in his actions.

There have been widespread calls for Mosley to resign and he was banned from attending last week's Bahrain grand prix by Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone.

Mosley is confident he can retain his job but has called an extraordinary general assembly to give the 222 members of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) to formally decide his future.

"The FIA can confirm that the members of the senate have unanimously approved the proposal of the president of the FIA, that further to the recent press coverage relating to his private life, an extraordinary general assembly should be convened," said an FIA statement released on Wednesday.

"The meeting will be held on June 3, 2008, in Paris. The general assembly will include a vote of confidence by secret ballot."

There will be a further three Formula One races before the meeting occurs, including the Monaco grand prix, and Mosley may be hoping to clear his name over the next month as he continues legal action against the newspaper.
