Wigan Athletic have completed the signing of midfielder Olivier Kapo from Birmingham City for an undisclosed fee.
The 27-year-old has signed a three-year deal and will link up with former Blues manager Steve Bruce at the JJB Stadium.
Kapo, who has been capped nine times by France, has been cleared to complete the switch in time to join his new team-mates for their pre-season training camp in Austria.
And Bruce said he is very pleased to have captured the a player who was high on his wish-list this summer.
"He's one I really wanted to get on board," Bruce told the club's official website.
"Olivier's a real fighter, but he has a touch of quality about him. He can play in a number of positions and having worked with him in the past I know what a good addition to our squad he will be.
"He has Premier League experience, which is important and I'm confident he will do well here."
Kapo has an impressive CV, including stints with top French sides Auxerre and Monaco, Italian giants Juventus and Spanish club Levante.
He joined Blues last summer, scoring five goals in 22 starts during the 2007/08 season, but he said it is "fantastic" to have completed his move to Wigan.
"As soon as I spoke with Steve and he told me his plans for the next few years, I wanted to come," Kapo explained.
"Steve is a fantastic manager and this club is going places. I really want to be playing for them now."
