Seven more cases of swine flu have been confirmed in England, adding to the one additional case announced in Scotland yesterday.
The confirmation, from the Health Protection Agency, means 55 people have been diagnosed with the H1N1 virus in the UK.
"Two of the new cases are adults, one from the east of England region and the other from London. Both are contacts of previously confirmed cases," the HPA said.
"The remaining five additional cases reported today comprise one adult and four children from the London area.
"These are cases who were swabbed last week and who may have acquired their infection before the closure of their school. Since then, antivirals have been given to all children and staff as a precautionary measure."
Cases of swine flu, which has caused deaths in Mexico and the United States, have so far been mild in the UK.
