Two killed in second day of fighting in Tripoli

Two people killed in northern Lebanese city of Tripoli
Two people have been killed in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli during a second day of fighting.

The deaths come after four people were killed on Sunday during clashes between supporters of the ruling majority and the Hezbollah-led opposition in the Bab al-Tebbaneh and Jabal Mohsen regions of the city.

So far more than 30 people have been injured in the fighting.

The clashes come as prime minister Fouad Siniora attempts to form a new government of national unity after a peace deal last month ended violence which threatened to plunge Lebanon into civil war.

The deal led to the election of former army chief Michel Sleiman as the country's new president.

On Monday, one person died in the renewed violence while another died from wounds sustained the day before.
