The father of former England football captain David Beckham is in hospital after suffering a heart attack.
Ted Beckham, 59, was taken to Whipps Cross hospital in Leytonstone when he complained of chest pains at his home in nearby Chingford, east London, last night.
His son David caught a flight from Los Angeles, where he plays for LA Galaxy, late last night to be at his father's bedside.
"His father has had a heart attack and is currently being treated in hospital. David is flying back to be with him," David Beckham's spokesman said, adding that his wife Victoria is currently in the Far East.
"Victoria is in Japan working but obviously she has been informed of it and she is concerned."
According to the Sun, Ted Beckham has been transferred to London Chest Hospital in Bethnal Green following the heart attack at 21:20 BST on Wednesday in an ambulance.
The tabloid says that the 59-year-old had to be resuscitated after his heart momentarily stopped.
