Cristiano Ronaldo has said he is "confident" he will win the 2008 European and world player of the year awards.
The Manchester United star, 23, enjoyed his best-ever season in 2007/08 - scoring a total of 42 goals in all competitions as the club won the Premier League and Champions League double.
And when asked by Italian daily La Gazzetta dello Sport how he rated his chances of picking up both the Ballon d'Or and the Fifa prize, Ronaldo did not hold back.
"Sincerely, yes I am confident," the Portuguese international winger said.
"If you assess what I did over the course of the season, I think I did more than everyone.
"What else should I have done to win the Ballon d'Or and the Fifa award?"
Ronaldo faces competition from 29 other players for the European crown, including AC Milan and Italian league favourite Kaka as well as United team-mate Wayne Rooney and fellow Premier League star Fernando Torres of Liverpool.
