James Blunt will take on the stresses of the world of journalism as he becomes the first-ever global guest editor for the Metro newspaper.

The million-selling singer-songwriter will work at the Metro Rome offices alongside the newspaper's global editor-in-chief Sakari Pitkanen on November 17th to provide content to a worldwide readership of over 20 million people.

And one lucky fan and Metro reader could win the chance to work as the You're Beautiful star's deputy for the day, as well as winning an all-expenses-paid trip to Italy, it has been announced.

As well as editing the paper and providing comment on global news, Blunt will work on a feature on Medecins Sans Frontieres, the international medical humanitarian organisation.

"I have long been fascinated by the media and am excited to have the chance to go behind the scenes at Metro and experience things from the other side," the 33-year-old said.

"With so much going on in the world right now, I am looking forward to editing a newspaper, raising the profile of subjects close to my heart and hopefully have a little fun along the way."

He joked: "I might even give myself a good review!"

Mr Pitkanen added: "With James as editor, we want to create coverage of things that only the largest newspaper can do and our well coordinated marketing campaign in countries where Metro is available will make sure all of our readers will be well aware of the collaboration."

James Blunt's new single Love, Love, Love is released on November 10th before a deluxe CD and DVD edition of his album All the Lost Souls hits the shelves on November 17th in Europe and the following week in the UK.
