Scotland have been handed a major boost ahead of their match against Wales after Andy Henderson was cleared to play, despite headbutting a French opponent.
Achille Reali, the match citing commissioner, decided that no action would be taken following the incident which involved France's Damien Traille.
Traille appeared to block Henderson before aiming a punch at the Scot as France scored their first try and match referee Alain Rolland called in the video official.
Mr Rolland warned Henderson and gave France a penalty on the halfway line despite being told about the headbutt.
As a result the centre has been cleared to play and the news is bound to relieve some of the pressure on Scotland coach Frank Hadden who has delayed the announcement of his team.
Scotland are already without full-back Rory Lamont who has a shoulder and ankle injury while Nathan Hines sat out training on Tuesday.
The Scottish lock is expected to resume training tomorrow as he tries to recover from a calf injury sustained in the defeat against France.
Hadden will name his starting lineup for the game at the Millennium Stadium on Wednesday.
Nine players that were on duty with the Scotland A team during the 37-15 win against Italy have been added to the squad for possible selection against Wales on Saturday.
