David Beckham has clarified that he is in talks with AC Milan about a possible loan move in January but insists it does not herald a full-time return to Europe.
A statement on Beckham's personal website claimed that reports that the deal with the Italian giants had been finalised were not true.
However it did confirm that talks were ongoing between Beckham and Milan.
The statement said: "Although nothing is confirmed at present, we can confirm that talks are taking place with Milan with regard to a short-term loan move at the start of next year."
Despite his impending move back to Europe it seems as if it not with a view to returning to Europe on a full-time basis.
The statement also claimed that Beckham remained committed to LA Galaxy for the foreseeable future.
"David very much remains a Galaxy player, and he will be in Los Angeles for the start of the 2009 MLS season," the statement concluded.
Beckham has managed to work his way back into the England squad in the last 12 months but has been told by coach Fabio Capello that he must be playing regularly to maintain that position.
Although he has mainly been on the bench during England's World Cup qualifying campaign Beckham has previously stated he is keen to try and make it to South Africa in 2010.
Therefore the move to Milan would help him achieve those aims while the MLS season is on its break.
