The fate of four Iranian diplomats kidnapped in Beirut almost three decades ago may soon be revealed by Israeli authorities.
The diplomats, including the then charges d'affaires, were abducted by militia in East Beirut in 1982 and reportedly handed over to the Israeli army as they occupied the city.
Israeli media has reported that information on the four will be provided to Lebanon's Hezbollah as part of a prisoner exchange deal.
Iran's envoy to Lebanon last week said he had received reliable information that the four men were still alive and being held in Israeli jails.
He said the information came from a member of Hezbollah who had recently been released from a seven-year jail term in Israel.
