Violence continued in southern Israel this morning when five mortar shells were fired from the Gaza Strip into western Negev.
It is not yet clear if the fuel and humanitarian aid meant to enter Gaza today has been delayed due to this new incident.
Israel's defence minister Ehud Barak announced yesterday he would allow fuel and humanitarian aid to cross the Israeli-Gaza border, following international pressure to allow help to the region's residents.
Some 250,000 residents have been without power for a week as a result of the border's closure.
Although the rocket attacks have yet to cease, no announcement has been made yet that the entry of aid workers and fuel into Gaza has been terminated.
Today's incident is allegedly in response to yesterday's aggression, which resulted in the death of four Palestinians.
Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) opened fire on the Palestinian gunmen on Wednesday, in an effort to prevent them from setting up explosives on the Gaza-Israeli border.
There have been no reported casualties in Israel from this morning's violence.
