At least 72 people have been killed and 200 others injured after a suicide bomber detonated a truck full of explosives in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk.The attack is the deadliest for since February 2008 when 98 people lost their lives as two mentally impaired women blew themselves up in a market in Baghdad. Police said a truck had been driven into a residential area as people left a mosque in the town of Taza Kharmatu. 45 homes around the mosque were flattened by the impact of the blast.Iraqi prime minister Noori al-Maliki said: "This ugly crime is an attempt to harm security and stability and spread mistrust of the Iraqi forces."Our forces... will arrest those who committed the crime in Taza Kharmatu and bring them to justice."The attacks come ten days before US troops are scheduled to withdraw from maintaining security in Iraq's built up towns and cities.The US and Iraqi government have signed an agreement under which foreign troops will further reduce their responsibility for security in the country on June 30th with a complete withdrawal of troops from Iraq by 2011.
