12 dead, 14 injured in Baghdad car bombing

The explosion took place in the Ahmadiya district in the country's capital city, Baghdad
A total of 12 people have died and 14 injured after a bombing in a busy commercial area of northern Baghdad.
The explosive device was placed in a truck parked in the district of Ahmadiya, which has a large number of Sunni Muslims.
Eleven other people were injured in separate incidents in the city. Nine people were hurt after a bomb exploded near a police patrol in the eastern part of the country's capital. Three of the wounded are said to be policemen.
In a separate incident, two people suffered wounds when another roadside bomb exploded in a different district of eastern Baghdad.
On Monday, at least 32 people were killed as bombers targeted a Shia religious festival in Baghdad.
However, security in the country has improved since the US sent an additional 30,000 troops to the country last year. Previously, the US military announced that the month of July had seen the lowest number of US casualties since 2003, the year of the invasion.
July also saw the lowest number of Iraqi civilians killed since December, 2005.
