UK police to carry out post-mortem on Scarlett Keeling
British police will carry out a third post-mortem on the body of teenager Scarlett Keeling, who was found raped and murdered on a beach in India.

A forensic post-mortem on the 15-year-old was due to take place in Exeter today.

Detective Inspector Dave Atkinson said: "Devon and Cornwall Police are not carrying out a criminal investigation into Scarlett's death.

"The aim of the post-mortem is to establish identity and cause of death to satisfy the coroner. We have also appointed a family liaison officer to support Scarlett's family if they wish it."

Scarlett's mother, Fiona MacKeown, said she wanted tests done in the UK in case forensic results from India are changed.

Mrs MacKeown has been battling the Indian authorities since her daughter's body was found on a Goan beach. The police at first said she had accidentally drowned but later launched a murder investigation.

At a press conference at her home at West Lodge Caravan Park near Meddon, North Devon, Mrs MacKeown also confirmed the case was to be handed over to the Indian Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Two men have been arrested for her murder, Samson D'Souza, 28, who is remanded in custody on suspicion of rape and Placido Carvalho, aged between 30 and 35, who has appeared in court on suspicion of drugging Scarlett and assisting in the murder by that act.End of story
