Sussex have agreed to release Mushtaq Ahmed from his contract at Hove to allow him to take on a larger role with the England coaching staff.
The Sharks had previously agreed to let England use the former Pakistan spinner for forty days per year, however, his role among Andy Flower's backroom staff has increased leading him to joining England on a full-time basis.
Mushtaq will still be based at Hove, where he spent six seasons as a player, and will help Sussex with their coaching when his England commitments allow.
Mark Robinson, Sussex's professional cricket manager, said: "We are pleased to help out England. This is a fantastic opportunity for Mushtaq, but also for England to have a man of his experience and knowledge working full-time.
"If Sussex can do anything that helps England's chances of winning the Ashes, we are more than happy to oblige."
The appointment means Mushtaq will now be England's regular spin coach, having been appointed as a consultant before the tour to India in 2008.
It had been hoped that Mushtaq would be able to unlock the potential of Monty Panesar when he was brought into the England camp last year.
But it is likely that the 38-year-old will be spending more time with Graeme Swann during the Ashes series as the Nottinghamshire player has become first-choice spinner in the last six months.
Mushtaq's last coaching stint with the Sharks will be during their Twenty20 matches against Essex Eagles and Hampshire Hawks, after which he will join up with England for the World Twenty20 tournament.
