A man who pleaded guilty to withholding information related to the failed suicide car bomb attack on Glasgow airport in June last year has been sentenced to 18 months in jail.

Sabeel Ahmed, 26, though will be released immediately because of the time he has already served and due to the fact he is being repatriated to India.

Mr Ahmed admitted at the Old Bailey earlier today that he had failed to tell police information regarding the terrorist attack.

He is the brother of Kafeel Ahmed, the man who drove a burning Jeep Cherokee into the terminal building last summer and later died at a Glasgow hospital.

Police arrested Mr Ahmed, a trained doctor, near Liverpool's Lime Street station on June 30th and later charged him under the Terrorism Act.

Prosecutors allege that his brother Kafeel sent Mr Ahmed an email before he drove into the Scottish airport.

Two other men have been charged in the investigation, accused of conspiracy to cause explosions last year.

On June 29th 2007 two cars containing gas cylinders and petrol were discovered in central London, the very next day a burning jeep was driven into the main terminal at Glasgow airport.End of story
