A British soldier has died in an explosion in Afghanistan's Helmand province, the Ministry of Defence has said.
The unnamed soldier, from D Squadron Household Cavalry Regiment, died in a blast 23km north of forward operating base Delhi.
The MoD said the soldier's next of kin had been informed and requested a 24-hour period of grace before further details were released.
Lieutenant Colonel Woody Page, spokesman for Taskforce Helmand, said: "We are deeply saddened by this loss and our thoughts are with his family and his unit at this tragic time."
Following yesterday's blast, 121 British soldiers have died in Afghanistan since the US-led conflict began in 2001.
