India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni admitted that there were moments in the final Test against Australia when he felt his team might lose.
Australia were set a daunting total of 382 for a win which would have seen them draw the series 1-1 and retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
They started brightly with Matthew Hayden smashing a quick-fire 77 and the run-chase looked on. But the Australian wickets started to tumble and they were eventually all out for 209, with Harbhajan Singh grabbing four wickets.
We didn't really start that well," said Dhoni. "I say that because they were scoring at five and five and a half runs an over so it was a worrying time, but we knew that they had to continue like that for a long time.
"We were getting wickets and once they had lost three wickets we thought one or two more wickets and we are in the game and it was important to win the series 2-0.
"I think the fast bowlers did the trick for us in this series, there was not much help for them in any of the wickets, they bowled their hearts out and they shared the responsibility and were backed well by the spinners and part-time bowlers."
Dhoni added that he felt that the matches against Australia were now bigger for India then their battles against local rivals Pakistan. He felt this series win would put them in good shape for future series' which start with seven one-dayers and two Test matches against England.
