The new album from Snow Patrol is to be called A Hundred Million Suns and could be released in October, the band have confirmed.
The Northern Irish indie-rockers have sold more than seven million albums worldwide and have now revealed their fifth record is imminent.
Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph paper, drummer Jonny Quinn let slip that the "melody-based" album's working title was One Hundred Million Suns and had been recorded in Grouse Lodge Studios in Ireland as well as the Berlin studios in which U2 recorded Achtung Baby.
"It's different too in ways from the other albums," he added. "It's hard to know what everyone will make of it but we're happy. I' go as far as to say I think it's our best album yet.
"The new album should be out some time later this year, maybe October," he revealed, "and we certainly want to get home to play a big gig for everyone next year."
However, frontman Gary Lightbody has since clarified Quinn's comments after the newspaper claimed the album was to be called One Hundred Million Suns despite the band asking them to omit the working title until they as a band had finalised it.
"Those words were not heeded and they printed it anyway," he wrote on the band's website.
"We're sorry you didn't hear it from us first but the album is indeed called A Hundred Million Suns."
Lightbody added: "We will endeavour to make you guys the first to hear about everything else. It's becoming increasingly hard but we'll do our best. Lots of apologetic love to you all."
