French right-back Willy Sagnol has praised Thierry Henry's tireless work leading the attack prior to the World Cup final against Italy in Berlin tomorrow evening.
The Bayern Munich defender celebrated the balletic Arsenal striker's ability to play as a lone striker in a formation that sees Zinedine Zidane link midfield with attack.
"He is very important. He plays as the only striker so he really has to run for the team," said Sagnol of the Gunners' captain, who is reprising the lone striker role he played in his team's run to the final of the Champions League against Barcelona in Paris.
Henry has scored three goals in the tournament thus far, putting him two behind Germany's Miroslav Klose, who will get the opportunity to add to his tally in today's third place play-off against Portugal.
Sagnol also recognised the key role that French captain Zinedine Zidane had to play in the final.
"It will not be easy but with Zidane we have something different," he said.
Zidane, who scored the decisive penalty in the semi-final against Portugal, will be hoping to lift the Jules Rimet trophy for the second time in eight years before he retires from football.
