Mark Cavendish's dream Tour de France campaign continued as he won his fourth stage with victory at the 182km ride from Narbonne to Nimes.

The British rider once again showed his lighting quick speed to out-sprint the rest of the riders as the finishing line approached.

Cavendish, who also won stage 12 of the tour yesterday, had to come back from a 10 minute deficit from France's Florent Brard and Dutchman Niki Terpstra, who took the early lead and went away from the rest of the peleton.

"I was trying that hard, so to get another win was really good," said Cavendish, who becomes the first rider to win four stages since Italian sprinter Alessandro Petacchi five years ago

"It's a bit impossible to comprehend but now I'd see it as a failure to not carry on winning.

"I only planned to do 10 days of the Giro but finished it and now I'm 13 days into the Tour not feeling too tired - I'll take every day as it comes and see how far I can get."

Australia's Robbie McEwen from the Silence-Lotto team came second behind Cavendish and Agritubel cyclist Romain Feillu from France was third.

Cadel Evans kept a hold of the yellow jersey, but he holds a slender one second lead over Frank Schleck. Christian Vande Velde is still in third, a further 37 seconds behind.
