Harlequins winger David Strettle has been recalled to the England senior squad as cover for Wasps star Paul Sackey, who is still struggling with an injury.
Sackey was forced off in England's defeat to Ireland last month after picking up an ankle problem in Dublin.
He was initially rated as a doubt for the remainder of the Six Nations and continues to be assessed by the squad's medical team, paving the way for the return of Strettle - who has not played since the summer Tests on the tour of New Zealand last year.
Sackey's availability will be assessed this week ahead of the match against France at Twickenham on Sunday.
In other injury news, first-choice fly-half Toby Flood has resumed training today after being rested because of injury concerns and will likely retain his place from the Ireland defeat.
And with similar concerns over some of the front-row forwards in the squad, Newcastle's David Wilson has been called up as cover.
Leicester Tigers' Louis Deacon has, like Strettle, also been promoted from the Saxons squad.
He replaces Wasps' flanker Tom Palmer in the elite squad until the end of the Six Nations.
