Scotland coach Frank Hadden has received a vote of confidence from the Scottish Rugby Union ahead of his side's Rugby World Cup quarter-final meeting with Argentina on Sunday.
Chief executive Gordon McKie has backed Hadden, who has previously coached the national side at under-16, under-18 and under-19 levels, to continue his work beyond the end of his current contract which finishes with Scotland's last game in France.
"I'm very hopeful Frank will want to stay and build from here. The process is only beginning," McKie said.
"We've made a lot of progress in the national team over the last 12 months - and indeed the last two years since Frank was appointed. Hopefully, we can go forward and make it better."
Hadden took over from Matt Williams as head coach of the national side in 2005 after a dreadful run of form had seen the side lose all but three of their 17 matches under his predecessor.
Although Scotland finished with the wooden spoon in this year's Six Nations, they were within a point of drawing with runners-up Ireland and came third in Hadden's debut in the competition the previous year.
