British number one Andy Murray has continued his excellent run of form by beating home favourite Fabrice Santoro in the Paris Masters third round.
The Scot produced some of his best tennis this year, particularly in the second set, as he cruised past the Frenchman 6-4 6-2 to set up a quarter-final against either sixth seed James Blake or tenth seed Richard Gasquet.
All three men still have a chance to qualify for the end-of-season Masters Cup, which features the top eight players in the world based on performances in 2007.
In order to secure a place at the Shanghai tournament, Murray must beat either Blake or Gasquet in the last-eight and hope both Tommy Robredo and Tommy Haas are knocked out before the semi-finals.
Robredo is currently on court against 11th seed Guillermo Canas in the third round, while Haas plays Mikhail Youzhny tonight and faces a potential quarter-final match-up with world number two Rafael Nadal.
The draw is beginning to open up for Spaniard Robredo, who was scheduled to meet world number four Nikolay Davydenko in the last eight.
But the Russian, who is experiencing a difficult time of late after being forced to fend off allegations of match-fixing, lost to unseeded Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis and was booed by the crowd after serving a double fault to lose a game in the second set.
