Roger Federer is feeling confident of capturing his first ever French Open title despite a below-par start to the season.
The world number one believes he is coming into form at the right time and can secure the only Grand Slam championship that has eluded him during his career.
Federer has qualified for the final of the last three clay court tournaments he has played in and feels he has managed to find form just at the right time.
"I think things are looking much better," he said.
"It was tough at the beginning of the year but I have definitely bounced back these last few months. I'm moving so well, and I haven't any problems after playing a lot of matches.
With Wimbledon quickly following the French Open, Federer says it is an important time to be hitting top form.
"I'm feeling where I want to be shortly before a really important stretch of tournaments. That starts here in Paris, so I feel good about my chances."
To capture the French title Federer must overcome world number two Rafael Nadal. The Spaniard has only ever lost twice on clay during his professional career and is unbeaten at Roland Garros.
Nadal recaptured the Hamburg Masters against Federer last week, winning 7-5 6-7 7/3 6-3, but Federer is confident he can beat the 'King of Clay' when it matters most.
Federer insisted: "I know I can beat him [Nadal]. All the chances are here for me to win it."
Federer will begin his French Open quest against world number 41 Sam Querrey.
