Watford have appointed Chelsea reserve team coach Brendan Rodgers as their new manager, with Frank Lampard Sr named as his assistant.
The 35-year-old will take charge of team affairs following tomorrow night's Championship fixture against Bristol City, for which Malky Mackay will stay as caretaker boss.
Northern Irishman Rodgers brings with him Lampard Sr, the father of the Chelsea and England midfielder, in what will be his first senior managerial role after spells at Reading's academy and as a youth team coach at Stamford Bridge.
Lampard Sr, 60, is a former England international and worked alongside Rodgers at Chelsea.
He has previous experience as an assistant to Harry Redknapp at West Ham United.
And Rodgers, who was forced to retire as a player at the age of 20 because of injury, said he is delighted to have Lampard Sr as a "mentor" at Vicarage Road.
"Frank is someone I have known for a little while now and our relationship came through young Frank, who I worked with at Chelsea," he explained.
"Talking to the man, and being in his company, I was always very interested in what he had to say and always came away having learned something. He has some great experience.
"As a young manager and coach, to me it was very, very important to have that someone alongside me. For me, at this moment in my career, I can think of no better man.
"He is a football man, he is an honest man and he is a loyal man.
"When you are a young manager those are the key qualities you want in someone who is your mentor really."
