At least 37 people have been killed in a train crash in northern Egypt, local police have said.

Another 50 are reported to have been injured after the train collided with vehicles near Marsa Matruh today.

The AFP news agency quotes police sources as saying a truck failed to stop at a crossing and pushed a number of stationary vehicles into the path of the oncoming train.
