Chambers Olympic decision delayed

Dwain Chambers to find out on Wednesday if he will be able to compete in Beijing Olympics
Dwain Chambers will find out next Wednesday if he will be able to compete in the Beijing Olympics.

The sprinter and his lawyers appeared at the high court today appealing against a British Olympic Association (BOA) rule banning him from running.

Chambers, 30, was disqualified from competing in any Olympic event by the BOA after testing positive for the banned steroid THG in 2004.

While the high court deferred a full hearing until March 2009 it said it would hear an injunction next Wednesday.

If successful, Chambers could then compete in Beijing if he qualifies via this weekend's Olympic trials.

Appearing outside court Chambers appeared confident the court would rule in his favour.

"It will go my way this week," he said.

"But whatever happens we will respect the judge's decision."
