Remains of British teenage girl have been found in a suitcase in Brazil
The remains of a British teenage girl have been found in a suitcase in Brazil, police say.

The body parts of Cara Marie Burke, 17, were found near a motorway in Goiania on Monday, according to a Goias state police spokesman.

Reports claim the teenager's boyfriend Dioli Mohammed has been arrested and has confessed to the crime.

"After we identified the body, the police initiated a search for the boyfriend," Jose Maria da Silva of Goiania police is quoted by Sky News as saying.

"The police found him today and he confessed to the crime. He didn't show any regret. He was cold. It's a tragedy."

The couple had travelled to Brazil three months ago on tourist visas.

The Foreign Office said in a statement: "We can confirm the death of a British national in Goiania in Brazil. The body was discovered early on Tuesday.

"Next of kin have been informed and we are providing consular assistance to the family."
