Former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic is due to appear before the United Nations (UN) war-crimes tribunal in The Hague today.
Last month, Mr Karadzic refused to enter a plea to the 11 counts of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes being brought against him.
As a result, the residing judge entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf.
Today's hearing will involve a meeting of the prosecution, defence and pre-trial judges to discuss preparations for his trial. As Mr Karadzic has decided to represent himself he will be present at the meeting.
The 63-year-old has been indicted for genocide and war crimes over his role in the war in Bosnia.
Mr Karadzic is suspected of being directly involved in the killing of 8,000 Muslim Bosnians in the town of Srebrenica in 1995 and will also be examined over his role in other events during the war such as the siege of Sarajevo.
Mr Karadzic was on the run for 13 years before he was discovered working in Belgrade.
