Police in Austria begin questioning Elisabeth Fritzl – held in father's cellar for 24 years – for first time
Police in Austria have begun questioning a 42-year-old woman allegedly held in her father's cellar for almost a quarter of a century.

Elisabeth Fritzl has been receiving psychiatric care since being released by her incestuous father Josef in April, 24 years since being imprisoned, prosecutors claim.

According to the Austria Press Agency she is being interviewed at an unspecified location.

Mr Fritzl, 73, has reportedly admitted imprisoning Elisabeth and fathering seven children with her, one of whom died shortly after childbirth.

Elisabeth, who lived in the cellar under her family home in Amstetten, Lower Austria, with three of her children, was released by her father in April when her daughter Kerstin was admitted to hospital.

Kerstin came out of a coma earlier this month and is expected to make a full recovery.End of story
