Police met Raymond Horne when he arrived back in the UK
A serial paedophile has arrived back in the UK after being deported from Australia where he had been living for more than 50 years.

Raymond Horne, 51, was met by police after his flight from Brisbane landed at Heathrow this morning.

Horne allegedly began offending in the 1960s after moving to Australia from Britain in 1952 at the age of five.

According to the Brisbane Courier Mail, the 51-year-old was last jailed in 1966 after he pleaded guilty to 14 child sex offences.

The judge reportedly sentenced him to 12 years without parole, classing him as a "persistent sex offender who preyed upon young, vulnerable boys".

The Home Office has said that all information relating to Horne would be passed onto local police wherever he eventually settles in the UK.

A spokesman said: "Where it is known that a sex offender convicted in another country is to be deported to the UK, he is met at the port of entry by the police who interview him and pass any relevant information to the police in the area to which the offender is proposing to live."

Horne will now be entered on to the sex offenders register for life. The Sexual Offences Act 2003 declared that anyone convicted of sex offence abroad would be made to register in the UK.
