Ben Mullany, the British newlywed shot during his honeymoon in Antigua, has died in hospital in Wales.
His death comes a week after his new wife Catherine Mullany, nee Bowen, died in a double shooting at their hotel on the last day of their honeymoon.
Mrs Mullany, who like her husband was 31, died instantly in the attack thought to be a botched robbery but Mr Mullany survived up until today in a comatose state.
The Morriston hospital in Swansea that he arrived at yesterday after flying across the Atlantic announced his death on Sunday evening.
He had been on life support since the incident at the Cocos Hotel near Valley Church on the Caribbean island and died not knowing his wife had been killed.
"The thoughts of all the staff who were involved in Ben's care are with his family at this very sad time," the hospital said after brain stem tests showed Mr Mullany had died.
"We would now ask the media to respect his family's wishes, and allow them privacy to grieve for Ben."
On Sunday prayers were held at the church where the Mullanys were married.
More than 30 people have been arrested in Antigua over the incident by the island's police, who have called in a team of UK detectives to assist in a murder investigation that has provoked national outcry in a country largely-dependent upon tourism.
